Monster Pillow

Sunday, November 30th, 2008

I made this fun little pillow for my daughter to put on her bed. I bought the hair and fur at Joann’s on clearance. The feet and hands are made out of felt and its arms and legs are out of a pair of shoes laces. The fabric is from Walmart. Not the most adorable thing ever but pretty creative of me, hu? Maybe it will get some creative juices flowing for you.

I hope to have time to work on my cards tonight. We are taking the in-laws out to see our house and then going to my brothers with all of my siblings to play Cooking Mama. If you have a Wii and haven’t tried it out I’d recommend it for a family time activity. At least my little nerdy family has a blast. :)

Pumpkin Bread

Sunday, November 30th, 2008

I started on multiple projects today. I stamped a bunch of images and I almost finished a case for my camera. Why have a lame-o black case when you can have a cool colorful one?!? I just have to get some fabric glue and it will be finished and ready to post.

I also made some super yummy pumpkin bread today. I tried a new receipe I found at Skip to My Lou that I’ve been wanting to try ever since I read about it. This new receipe will be replacing all others I’ve ever tried. I also will be trying any other receipes she posts in the future. We’ve already ate a loaf and a half (it yields 3).

I’ll be posting more tomorrow!

Thanksgiving Layout

Friday, November 28th, 2008

I couldn’t sleep last night. Black Friday. I get so excited. I woke up at 2:00 dreaming of random craft ideas (I can’t wait to try them out) and couldn’t get back to sleep. We left at 4:30 and had a blast. While waiting in line at our first stop it started down pouring. Sweet! While running through one of the stores my camera fell out of my pocket and skidded across a floor being trampled by other shoppers. It lived. I purchased $230 worth of goods for a whopping $82. Pretty sweet, huh? I am officially finished with my Christmas shopping.

My dear husband sweetly took me to buy a new camera after I returned. I really wanted a high megapixel camera I could put in my pocket. (I didn’t get any pics of Thanksgiving yesterday! Blast!!) I am way excited. I was able to play with it for a minute today but the turkey pics are from my SLR camera which sadly needs to be taken to the shop.

Anyway, to the layout! I hand drew and cut out the turkeys, the Pilgrim hat, and the pumpkins. My Cricut cut out the leaves. The mat with the turkey peeking out lets the picture slip under the lacy paper strip. Some of the leaves and pumpkins are 3D. The mats are all sewn. Pretty fab, huh?

Pumpkin Walnut Cookies

Wednesday, November 26th, 2008

Sorry that it’s been awhile. I wish there was more time in the day for crafts. I made one of my favorite cookies for my sis-in-law Meghan today, pumpkin walnut. That are soft and super fab. I thought since cooking is another thing I love that I’d share the recipe.

PUMPKIN-WALNUT COOKIES

Yields 3 dozen

1 cup butter, softened
2/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/3 cup sugar
1 cup cooked pumpkin
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
2 cups flour
1 ½ tsp. pumpkin pie spice or cinnamon
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 cup chopped walnuts

FROSTING

2 cups powdered sugar
1/4 cup butter, softened
4 oz. of cream cheese, softened
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. pumpkin pie spice or cinnamon
walnut pieces

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Beat together butter, brown sugar, and sugar until creamy. Add pumpkin, egg, and vanilla and mix well.  Continue beating on low while adding the rest of the ingredients except the walnuts. Hand stir in the walnuts. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes. Combine all frosting ingredients (except walnuts) and beat on low. Garnish with walnut pieces.

I hope you love them as much as we do! I do have my Thanksgiving turkey layout done but don’t have the time to post it at the moment. It will be up soon! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Set of Sick Bugs

Saturday, November 22nd, 2008

This is one of my very first and favorite Whipper Snapper stamps. (I still need to break out my new Whipper Snappers!) I cutout and embossed the stars with my cuddlebug. The bug has stickled details and his blanket and cold pack are 3D.

A group of us are going to the Coldplay concert tonight. Woohoo! It’s going to be a great week- Coldplay, Thanksgiving, and Black Friday. Lots of family time. My husband if flying to Arizona next weekend too. That’s not really fun for me but I’m glad he gets to go. We’ll be packing this week as well. What fun. :S
