Back Up & Running with a Christmas Card

Hello? Testing, testing. You there? Cause I’m finally here. Who knew changing web hosts would take me out of commission for an entire week!?! I’ve been having major withdrawals. Thank you to my fantastic husband and my more-than-amazing BIL Jon my site is finally back on-line. They spent hours and hours working on bringing me back from the big black cyber unknown. Thanks guys! Thanks to all my faithful followers anf friends for sticking around too!

On to my Practical Scrappers DT card. The challenge is to use seven or more items on your project. I used this cute little reindeer from Create-a-Critter. The city is from Paper Doll Dress Up and the snow has been embossed using the Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder. Add some thread, bells, ribbon, and metal sentiment and there you have seven things.

Oh my, he’s darling! What a happy little reindeer, and no wonder! You’ve created a wonderful little world for him to frolic in. Love the pink sky and the cityscape background, and I really love how you tore the swiss dot white paper to make snow drifts! Brilliant! I’ll have to tuck that idea in the back of my mind for later. How did you attach the metal sentiment plate?

The sentiment tag is an eyelet. I have some that are stickers too. I prefer those. :)

I have noticed some of your cards have stitching around them, could you tell me how you do this? I am new to card making, and find that the stitches add a beautiful accent to the card. Do you just do it with a sewing machine? or by hand? Thanks, Heather

Hi Heather, thanks for stopping by my site! I totally agree about stitching on cards. I think it adds a lot. I’m pretty much addicted. :) I just use my good ol’ sewing machine. They do make little sewing machines just for crafting but my regular sewing machine works just as good if not better. It takes a little practice but is lots of fun. I am better at sewing on paper then I am on fabric. If your corners don’t look so hot just stick on a few brads and you’re good to go. Here is a tutorial ( http://truesgiftsfromtheheart.blogspot.com/2009/06/trues-sewing-on-cards-tutorial.html ) from a site I admire on sewing on cards as well. Hope that helps!
