Elephant Paper Piecing

I paper pieced this cute little elephant together this morning. I haven’t decided what I am going to do with him yet but I do know he’ll be holding a sign that reads “I’m nuts about you!” I already have the stamp. I’ve seen a few different paper pieced elephants but didn’t like any of their ears. I bought this pattern from myscrapchick.com (looks like they offer it at the moment) but didn’t like the ears they have. I made these ears up. He didn’t photograph so hot but believe me, he’s cute. I made him look all chunky.

In other news, I’d like to move to Japan. That’s right, Japan. I’ve been looking for cool new fabrics and all the fabrics I really love are imports from Japan. That means for me they are harder to find and will cost me more. If I wasn’t a beginner and more likely to mess up on every project I’d fork out the dough. Alas, I am a beginner who has expensive taste. If anyone knows a great site or store that carries attractive fabric with such things as owls, squirrels, pears, apples, trees, cherries, snails, and so forth please drop me a line.

Hey, welcome home. I use either the cats eye or the small square ink pads to shade. I apply it straight from the ink pad. It kills the ink pad pretty fast but it works best for me. I hope that helps!!
