A Christmas tradition for my family is making gingerbread men/houses every year. (We will be making the houses in a few days and I’ll post them.) One year when I was away to school I made these little guys for my roommates (all 13 of them) and the group of guys we hung out with. I decorated them with frosting of all colors and made them to look like the receiver- big project but tons of fun. Today I just shaped and baked.

Here is the recipe. We triple it for the houses and then cut them out.

Gingerbread Men

• 1/3 cup shortening
• 1/3 cup brown sugar
• 1 egg
• 2/3 cup honey
• 2 ¾ cups flour
• 1 teaspoon baking soda
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 2 teaspoons cinnamon
• 1 teaspoon ginger

Combined. Shape a ball for the head and two “snakes” for the legs and arms then bake at 375 degrees for 8 minutes.

Side Note: My husband hates that I center the text so I’m going to try it his way for a little while.
