Stuffed Owl PDF Pattern

Hope I did it right!! It’s my first time figuring out how to attach a PDF. The pattern should fill your entire 8.5X11 sheet of paper right up to the edges. If there are any issues leave a comment and I’ll get ‘er fixed.

Supplies needed-

fabric scraps

scissors

sewing machine

needle and thread

stuffing

fusible webbing (These are the two that I use. You only need one.)
iron/ironing board

Pellon Wonder Under- must sew around the perimeter
Thermo Web Heat n’ Bond No Sew- if you don’t want to sew the pieces down

Print your pattern and cut out the pieces. You’ll need two of everything except the beak.

Pick out your fabrics. Trace and cut out the front and back of your owl. I made the back of my owls the same fabric as the wings.

The rest of the pattern pieces trace on the smooth paper side of your fusible webbing. Cut out around the pieces and iron them on to your fabric selections. Follow the directions on the back of the package.

Start with the wings. Match them up to the outside edge of the owls body. If they don’t match perfectly no big deal. You won’t be able to tell once you’ve sewn around the owl body at the end.

Next attach the back layer of the eyes (I did them in green). I then layered the second layer (white) of the eyes and sewed only on the second layer. Once you’ve sewn down the wings and eyes add the feet, the third layer of the eye (black), and the feet. Sew them all down. *You can also use the “No Sew” Heat n’ Bond if you prefer to not sew each layer down.

Pin the front of your owl and the back together with the back side of the fabrics showing. Sew a 1/4 inch seam around your owl leaving an opening at the bottom for turning and stuffing.

Turn your owl right side out. Make sure to use a pencil or some other pointy object to push the ears out. Stuff him and then sew your opening shut.

When you are done your kids will look like this.

Thankful Owl Tag

It’s been awhile since I made anything primarily Cricut cuts so I thought I’d surprise you with something different for a change. I whipped out my favorite Create-a-Critter cartridge and my newest Plantin SchoolBook cartridge to make a simple gift tag. I cut the tag at 2.5 and the owl at 3. I hid the owl’s face on the top cut in Design Studio so I could use my Peachy Keen Stamp faces (sz. X Large). A little ink, chalk, and a touch of Copics and here she is.

Have I mentioned I love owls? What? Only a bazillion times. Well, let’s make it a bazillion and one. I love them! This cutie is from Meljen’s Designs. His name is Fuzzy Owl. Meljen has a new realease coming out on April 22nd. I just had the chance to peek at them early and wow, they are adorable! Hopefully I’ll have some time to play with them soon! You can get a tiny sneak peek here. Melanie will be going to weekly releases starting April 22nd too! Woohoo!

Meljen’s new shop is up and running. Her etsy shop is closing today. Add the new shop to bookmark so you don’t forget!

I water colored my owl with Twinkling H2O’s. The pattern paper are all from the DCWV Citrus Stack. The sentiment is from High Hopes. I added some Diamond Glaze to his eyes as well.

Hoo’s Birthday?

It was my daughters third birthday yesterday. Happy Birthday Mallory!! So for my Squigglefly DT card I decided to do the birthday theme thing. I love owls so this Owl Birthday by Angie Davis image I adore. The challenge is to doodle on your project. I’m not the best doodler but I got ‘er done.

I can not recall what company the papers are from. Sorry about that. I used one of the new EK Success Corner Adorner punches the Easter Bunny left in my basket (I scored 60$ worth of crafting goodness for 20$ at Joann’s, it was a fabulous day). The flowers I bought off e-bay.

I’ll have photos of my daughters Alice in Wonderland birthday party decor up soon too!

Dustin Pike Sick Owl Card

I love owls. Have I mentioned that I love owls? This digi is from Dustin Pike. I have a soft spot for Dustin Pike for three reasons (other than his fabulous images, of course). One, he’s High Hopes newest artists. Two, he loves Disneyland, and three, he too lives in Utah. If you know me, you know I love all three of those things. It can’t get much better than that.

Check out Dustin’s site. He has some fantastic images and gives out lots of fabulous freebies. He also has a challenge blog that I have yet to enter but plan to. Lol, I sound like a commercial. I don’t know Dustin, I’m not a DT member either, just a fan.

The sentiment is from High Hopes. The checkered green paper from American Crafts and the orange polkadot paper is from Pebbles Inc.

I followed this weeks sketch at Friday Sketchers. I finished this card at 1:30 this morning so please forgive me for spacing the horizontal stripe. I swear it wasn’t on the sketch last night, lol.

I’ll be back tomorrow with my Squigglefly DT card. It turned out fabulously if I may say so myself.
